When fashion forerunners go out of ideas, they go down memory lane for inspiration. We occasionally see revivals of old 60's fashion and 70's retro. But shoe industry giant Charles and Keith have gone farther down by launching a line inspired by tribal art. The collection includes pumps, gladiators and even jewellery like toe rings made of contemporary materials and rendered with modern twist.
Using lace, crystals and other metals, shoes from the spring collection have been given a modern cut to suit the needs of the modern woman, yet touch base with the tribal inspiration of the whole collection. Designed for comfort and durability, they utilized different kinds of leather to pull off the design they wanted. Man may have come far off from the tribal communities that we used to have, and organized ourselves into impersonal cosmopolitan cities but nature leads us back to our tribal roots, even just in the shoes we wear
