
Romance is still alive across northeast Japan, with the rise in sales of wedding rings in the after the natural disaster on March 11. The stores in Sendai, which are the commercial hub in tsunami affected region of Japan, have reported significant rise in the sales of wedding rings. The Sales of wedding rings at Sendai Mitsukoshi, has doubled between April and July compared to the same period last year.
According to Kyodo News, Fujisaki, another department store in Sendai, has also reported a 30% pitch in the sale of wedding rings throughout the summer. This rise in the wedding rings sales in the earthquake and tsunami hit areas of Japan has encouraged retailers to hypothesize on how the March 11 disaster has resulted into people reassessing their priorities.
