Westende Jewellers, a Christchurch jewellery store, had become a mark of identification of the September earthquakes. The jewellery store is all set to reopen for the third time in over one year time on November 28 at the Colombo Street in Sydenham. The jewellery store was located on the corner of Manchester and Worcester streets for 30 years before being a victim to the disastrous earthquake which hit September last year. After that, the jewellery store re-domiciled twice. First they moved to Bell's Antiques on Gloucester Street where again they were hit by the February earthquake. Then they moved to Andrew Kelso's garage as a temporary location. The owner of the jewellery store, Mr. Roger Kelso, looked hopeful for the future business considering the new location as not the most glamorous one.

For my daughter's 16th birthday, one of her grandmothers wanted to get her a real keepsake, and wanted my daughter to pick out a watch, from www.watchsea.com. Needless to say, her grandmother was bewildered, but being ever the open-minded person that she is, she decided to give a two-part gift. They had a mature talk about this and my daughter came around to appreciating the beautiful gift idea that was being offered to her and said she was going to make a keepsake box to put both items in for when she's not wearing them! I was very glad that each was able to understand the other's point of view…and I'm glad my daughter understood how fortunate she is to have such a generous and understanding grandmother.

Three suspects have been arrested by Menlo Park police in a strong-arm robbery that resembled a rash of gold necklace robberies on the Peninsula.
The police said on a new release that two men attacked a group of four people walking in a residential neighborhood and one of the suspects ripped a gold necklace off from a victim's neck. The three suspects were identified as Aaron Martinez, 18, Miguel Zamora, 19, and Antonio Sotelo Lozano, 18, by detectives.
Sotelo Lozano was already in the jail in connection with gold necklace robbery in Mountain View. Detectives are investigating if the group is linked to similar strong-arm gold necklace robberies in Santa Clara counties. Mountain View police said that Sotelo-Lozano escaped in a truck after a gold necklace robbery on Villa Street.
